It won the Tribeca Film Festival and now has 3 days left to watch it on Netflix: a "cynical and scheming" social manipulator.

There are only three days left until Netflix removes one of the most provocative European films of recent years, winner of the Best International Film Award at the Tribeca Film Festival and becoming a subject of debate for its portrayal of social media manipulation , fake news and the darker side of digital politics .

The title also connects with a previous story by the same director and has become one of the boldest projects in recent Polish cinema. It's Hater , a psychological thriller directed by Jan Komasa and written by Mateusz Pacewicz, the same creative duo responsible for the Oscar-nominated Corpus Christi .

This 2020 film is set in the universe of Suicide Room (2011), although it can be enjoyed independently. Its protagonist is Tomasz, a young man expelled from law school for plagiarism , who channels his ambition through a shadowy political marketing agency specializing in smear campaigns and online manipulation. The Machiavellian Tomek desires to win the love of Gabi, a girl who holds a higher social status than him.

Over the course of its 135 minutes, Hater raises uncomfortable questions about internet ethics and the limits of digital power. Tomasz, played with disturbing coldness by Maciej Musiałowski, begins his descent into the emotional abyss through illegal wiretaps, blackmail, and orchestrated attacks on social platforms. Through a dark aesthetic and a narrative that blends social drama with political suspense, the film unravels the consequences of a hyperconnected society where hatred becomes currency.

The film was released in the midst of the pandemic and won Best International Feature Film at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival. Pacewicz's script has been described by Variety as "cynical and intriguing," offering an unflattering look at new media and the rise of populism. Hater 's removal from Netflix on Saturday, July 5 , marks one last chance to see it for those who enjoy a wicked puzzle thriller.
